DTS designs, fabricates, tests, installs and operates quality systems, and
provides maintenance and supplies to keep them running safely and efficiently.
Most of our systems are modular, skid-mounted, and automated for remote operation.

Zero Environmental Release Option (ZERO™) System integrates complementary technologies for total recycle of liquid radwaste at BWRs, and for water release at PWRs. Modular units (selected from the stand-alone systems described below) are combined to meet your operational and financial goals. |
Tubular Ultrafiltration (TUF)
System filters liquid to 0.05 microns by passing it through a series of cross-flow membranes. Used ahead of demineralization and RO systems to remove non-ion-exchangeable materials and prevent fouling, the TUF helps reduce curie discharges. |
Ozonator destroys TOCs and provides an effective alternative to harsh sodium hypochlorite for cleaning membrane systems such as the TUF. This unit converts oxygen to ozone that reduces organics to carbon dioxide and water. |
Reverse Osmosis (RO) System
uses membrane technology to remove radioactive and dissolved contaminants from liquid streams, while passing bulk materials. RO is a cost-saving method of removing TDS and TOC. Its product can be recycled as high-purity water. |
Boric Acid Recovery System (BARS) uses RO to recover >90% of Boric Acid while removing silica and contaminants from borated reactor water and from the concentrate produced by BA evaporators. A typical multi-stage BARS processes up to 60 gpm. Units down to 4 gpm accomodate batch processing. |
Radwaste Reverse Osmosis (RWRO) System is a compact RO unit designed to fit in restricted areas and to process at 25-30 gpm. Like the BARS, it is equipped with remote pendant and touch screen controls for easy monitoring and operation. This system is often used to polish the effluent of demin units. For more information contact us. |
Candle Filter System (CFS)
protects downsteam demins and RO membranes from fouling. Its smaller footprint, lower cost and lower flow rate make it an excellent alternative to the TUF in many applications. A backwash pulse clears accumulated solids from the filter surface. |
Waste Processing System (WPS)
is the most effective system for filtration and ion exchange of liquid streams. With sluiceable, corrosion-resistant vessels of various sizes, and using carbon, organic, inorganic and selective process media; it maximizes DFs and VR. |
Underwater Filters
are stainless steel units that can operate submerged and unattended in pools and reactor cavities. Able to maintain water clarity, vacuum sludge and debris, and skim floating dirt, these filters are often teamed with underwater demins for total pool cleanup. |

Solidification & Encapsulation |
Polymer is the
key to solidifying/encapsulating radioactive, hazardous and mixed wastes, to
provide a long-life barrier against environmental release. Our volume-efficient
processes, applied in containers from 55-gallon drums to 200 cf liners, can
solidify/encapsulate materials ranging from sludges and fine carbon to filter
elements and tools. DTS polymer processes are NRC-approved for stabilization
of Class A, B and C wastes, in compliance with 10 CFR 61. NRC approval makes
them your best choice for preparing wastes for interim on-site storage.

Solids Handling |
High-Velocity Vacuum Dewatering (HVV)
System combines regulatory compliance with economy and simplicity of operation by using a vacuum to remove FSW from a disposal container. The HVV is compatible with any HIC or steel liner used in the nuclear industry today. |
DrumDryer (DD) dries wet solids, liquid concentrates and decon solutions to a solid cake. The waste, dried in 55-gallon DOT 17C drums, is safe to store, handle and transport. Waste volume reduction of 85-90% can be achieved. Drying capacity of up to 300 gpd is reached with multiple drum modules |
Solids Collection Filter (SCF) is a revolutionary filter canister that collects solids right in the disposal container, eliminating the handling, exposure and expense of secondary processing such as drying and solidification. Canisters are dewatered for disposal. |
Consumables |
Oil Booms: fabric sleeves filled with oil-attracting media float in tanks and sumps, where they wick up oil and lock it inside a casing. When booms are retrieved they shed excess water without releasing oil, and can be processed as DAW for disposal or incineration. |
Processing Media: carbon filtration media and organic and inorganic ion exchangers to support processing operations. DTS has also developed ion-specific media that selectively remove cesium, antimony and other materials from liquid streams. |
Filter Supplies: inside-loading, pleated paper cartridges in a range of micron sizes deliver high dirt loading and high flow rates. DTS also offers filter housings, shields, handling tools, and a Filter Consolidator (crusher) that can reduce filter disposal volume by 75%. |
